A Concert at Ball Arena, Denver
Denver's arena sits on the edge of LoDo, a walk from Union Station, in a city a mile above sea level with the Rockies on the horizon.
Overview
Ball Arena, home of the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche, stands just west of downtown Denver, across Cherry Creek from LoDo, the lower downtown district of converted brick warehouses, bars and restaurants. Union Station, the city's restored railway hub, is a walk away, and the arena has its own light rail stop.
Journey play here on Sunday 22 November 2026 on their Final Frontier farewell tour, the last show before the final run through California and Las Vegas. Our Journey tour cities guide covers every stop.
The altitude
Denver is the Mile High City: about 1,600 metres above sea level. If you have flown in from the coast, you may notice shortness of breath on stairs and feel the effects of alcohol more quickly. Drink plenty of water, go easy on the beer before the show, and use sun cream, even in November, as the sun is strong at this height.
Red Rocks and the city
For music fans, the day trip is Red Rocks Amphitheatre, about half an hour west in the foothills: an open-air venue built between two huge red sandstone outcrops, one of the most famous concert settings in the world. Outside the concert season you can walk up into the empty seats, climb the steps with the locals doing their workout, and visit the small music hall of fame inside. It is a stunning place even without a show.
In the city, see Larimer Square and Union Station in LoDo, the Denver Art Museum, and the murals of the RiNo art district north of downtown. On the steps of the State Capitol, one step is marked as exactly one mile above sea level.
Before the show
On a Sunday show day, start with brunch, a serious habit in Denver, then walk through Larimer Square and Union Station, where the old waiting hall is now a busy bar and restaurant space. Cross the river to the Highland neighbourhood for views back over downtown, or browse the bookshops and breweries of LoDo. Denver has one of the largest craft beer scenes in the country, but at altitude, pace yourself before a long night on your feet.
Late November is the start of the ski season in the Rockies, so some fans combine the show with a few days in the mountains. The main resorts are a drive of a couple of hours or more west on Interstate 70, which can be slow in snow.
Tickets & Getting There
Tickets
Buy from the arena's official ticket seller or through the band's official site. Avoid private sellers you cannot check.
Getting there
The A Line commuter train runs from Denver International Airport to Union Station; from there, walk to the arena or take light rail one stop. The airport is far out on the plains, so the train is usually quicker than a taxi. Check the last trains before relying on them after a late show. Red Rocks is easiest by car or tour; there is no regular public transport.
Where to stay
- LoDo and Union Station: walk to the arena, with the airport train on the doorstep.
- Downtown, near 16th Street: plenty of hotels, a short walk or ride to the show.
- RiNo: newer hotels in the arts district, a ride from the arena.
Accessibility and VIP
Accessible seating is sold through the official seller; the arena's guest services can help with entrances and lifts. Buy VIP packages only through the band's official site.
Parking
The arena has large car parks around it, and garages in LoDo are within walking distance. Expect slow exits after a sold-out show; the light rail is often quicker.
Tips
- Check the arena's bag policy before you set off.
- Drink water from the moment you land; altitude and dry air dehydrate you quickly.
- Prepare for snow. Late November can bring cold snaps and snowfall; check the forecast and pack a warm coat.
- Visit Red Rocks in daylight and check the park's website first, as the amphitheatre closes for events.
- Allow extra time at the airport on the way home; it is large, and security queues can be long.
- Carry lip balm and moisturiser; the air is very dry in Denver.
- Eat a proper meal before the show; altitude makes long nights more tiring than you expect.
- Book Union Station rooms early; the hotel inside the station is popular for event weekends.
- Allow for slower driving on mountain roads to Red Rocks if there has been snow or ice.
