Overview

Sam Fender has announced a massive headline show at Edinburgh's Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium as part of his stadium tour. The North Shields singer will perform on Thursday 8 July and Saturday 10 July 2027, with British alternative rock band Wunderhorse supporting at the Edinburgh dates and across all of the UK stadium shows. This concert follows the success of his third album, People Watching, which went to number one and won the Mercury Prize, alongside his chart hits such as Rein Me In.

This concert represents a step up in scale for the singer as his career moves from theatres and arenas to some of Europe's biggest stadiums. For travellers planning a summer trip, the concert date pairs well with our recommended 3 Days in Edinburgh: Castles, Volcanoes and Hidden Villages, leaving plenty of time to explore the city between the musical events.

Visitors can easily combine the stadium performance with broader sightseeing detailed in our main Edinburgh guide. The summer tour also stops at venues in Newcastle, Cardiff, London, Dublin and Manchester, making the Scottish capital a prime destination for fans travelling across Britain to catch the live performances.

Tickets & Getting There

Fans looking for tickets should check the official ticketing page for presale and general sale windows. When buying through official channels, purchasers are limited to six tickets per person. Hospitality packages for the Murrayfield show are also available through Murrayfield Experience.

To reach Edinburgh for the event, high-speed trains from London King's Cross pull right into Edinburgh Waverley in the valley between the Old and New Towns. Travellers arriving by air can use the blue Lothian Airlink 100 express bus from Edinburgh Airport, which runs to Waverley Bridge, or take the Edinburgh Tram line through the West End, Princes Street and St Andrew Square all the way down to the port of Leith and Newhaven.

When deciding where to stay, choosing the New Town, West End or Stockbridge gives you flatter pavements, Georgian proportions and quieter nights, while sleeping in the Old Town or Grassmarket puts medieval stone closes outside your window. You can compare areas in our Where to Stay in Edinburgh: Old Town, New Town and Stockbridge guide. No car is needed as the city is built for walking and covered by local trams and buses.

Tips

  • Book Edinburgh Castle online before you go, as walk-up tickets frequently sell out completely by mid-morning.
  • Use the Edinburgh Tram or Lothian Buses to travel easily around the city without renting a car.
  • Walk up to Arthur's Seat inside the city limits for panoramic views before the concert.
  • Explore the historic wood-panelled Victorian bars and single malts in the local pubs.

We first covered this announcement on 2026-10-28. Details can change, so check the official event and venue sites before you book travel.
