Overview

Sónar has announced the first details and artist confirmations for its 34th edition, scheduled to take place from 17 to 19 June 2027. The festival is returning to a layout that revives elements from its history, placing Sónar de Día back on the waterfront in central Barcelona where the event began in 1994. Alongside the daytime music, Sónar+D returns to the same daytime venue with activities dedicated to technological creativity, culture, research, and critical thought. Meanwhile, Sónar de Noche will take place on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 June across four stages at Fira Gran Via, utilizing SonarClub, SonarPub, SonarLab, and SonarCar.

The first wave of artist confirmations spans multiple generations and musical scenes. Bonobo will present a live show of a new album titled Distance in Static, designed by Pierre Claude, and Tokischa will make a debut performance featuring dembow. Other live acts include Yung Lean, Jessie Ware, and Cornelius presenting a recent album titled Refractions. The programme features club culture figures such as Carl Cox returning after more than twenty years, Peggy Gou, KI/KI, Romy from The xx, Oscar Mulero, and Honey Dijon presenting the Sinister project. Further collaborations and live sets include Collabs3000 featuring Chris Liebing and Speedy J, Aurora Halal, Goldie, and Funk Assault formed by Alarico and Chlär, alongside a broad selection of electronic, electro, bass, jungle, hip-hop, and urban acts.

Travellers can easily combine the festival schedule with a Barcelona in 3 Days city break, leaving time to explore local sights between the daytime waterfront events and the night sessions at Fira Gran Via. The broader Sónar Week extends across different points in the city, with OFFSónar at Poble Espanyol, and Sónar District and Sónar Kids at Parc del Fòrum. First-time visitors and electronic music fans will find that the new daytime waterfront setup allows for a comfortable balance of tourism and festival attendance.

Tickets & Getting There

The first passes for the 2027 edition are already available through the official festival website, featuring SonarPass and SonarPass+D in both standard and VIP tiers. You should check the official ticketing page to secure your passes in advance as demand is high.

Barcelona El Prat airport is situated about fifteen kilometres south-west of the centre and is linked to the city by the Aerobús, the R2 Nord train, and metro line L9 Sud. High-speed trains from Madrid and France arrive at Sants station. Once you are in the city, the metro, buses, and walking cover all transport needs, and you can pick up a T-casual card for ten metro and bus trips. You do not need a car because parking is scarce and expensive.

When deciding Where to Stay in Barcelona: A Neighborhood Guide, Eixample is a straightforward choice for a first trip because it is central, well connected, and calmer at night. The Gothic Quarter and El Born place you right among old streets and nightlife, Gràcia has a small town feel further out, and Poble-sec offers notable tapas bars.

Tips

  • Book your festival passes through the official website as soon as possible.
  • Keep a close eye on your belongings on Las Ramblas and the metro, as these are pickpocket territory.
  • Remember that the tourist tax is charged per person, per night.
  • Use the Aerobús, the R2 Nord train, or metro line L9 Sud to travel from Barcelona El Prat airport into the centre.
  • Explore neighbourhoods like Eixample or the Gothic Quarter for easy access to both the waterfront daytime venues and the Fira Gran Via night events.
