Overview

American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Mavericks and the Stars, is the centrepiece of Victory Park, a district of offices, flats and restaurants on the north-western edge of downtown Dallas. It has its own station on the DART light rail network, and Uptown, the city's most walkable area for restaurants and bars, starts just to the east.

Journey play here on Friday 20 November 2026 on their Final Frontier farewell tour, two nights after Houston. Our Journey tour cities guide lists every date.

Dallas the next day

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza tells the story of President Kennedy's assassination in 1963 from the old book depository building overlooking the spot. It is a sober, well-told museum, and timed tickets help on busy days. From there it is a short walk to the Arts District, home to the Dallas Museum of Art, with free general admission, and Klyde Warren Park, a green deck built over a motorway with food trucks at lunchtime.

Deep Ellum, east of downtown, is the city's live music and mural district, and the Bishop Arts District, south of the river, has independent shops and restaurants. For Texas barbecue, ask locally, expect queues at the famous places, and go early, since the best brisket sells out.

Fort Worth

Fort Worth, about forty minutes west, feels very different: the Stockyards, with cattle driven along the street on most days, cowboy bars and Western shops, plus two outstanding art museums, the Kimbell and the Modern. The TRE commuter train links the two cities, so a day trip is possible without a car.

Before the show in Victory Park

Victory Park itself is modern and a little corporate, but it is busy on event nights, with bars and restaurants around the plaza in front of the arena. For more choice, walk east into Uptown along McKinney Avenue, where a free vintage trolley runs between the Arts District and the restaurants. Dallas is a big, spread-out city, so a day without a car is easiest if you stay between Uptown and downtown and use the trains and the trolley.

Texas sizes apply to the arena too: it holds a big crowd, and the plaza outside fills well before the doors open on a Friday.

November is a good month to visit North Texas: the summer heat has gone, the evenings are pleasant for walking between Uptown and the arena, and the outdoor patios of the restaurants are still busy.

Tickets & Getting There

Tickets

Buy from the arena's official ticket seller or through the band's official site. Avoid resale offers you cannot verify.

Getting there

DART's Orange Line runs from DFW International Airport into the city, and light rail lines stop at Victory station, beside the arena. Dallas Love Field, the smaller airport, is a short drive north. Driving in on a Friday evening means heavy traffic, so the train is often quicker. Check the last trains before relying on them after the show.

Where to stay

  • Victory Park and Uptown: walk to the arena, with restaurants and bars nearby.
  • Downtown: close to Dealey Plaza and the Arts District, a short train ride to the show.

Accessibility and VIP

Accessible seats are sold through the official seller; ask guest services about drop-off points and lifts. Buy VIP packages only through the band's official site.

Parking and rideshares

If you do drive, book a garage space in Victory Park ahead of time, as event parking fills and leaving takes a while. Rideshare pickups are usually set in a marked zone a short walk from the arena; follow the signs rather than waiting at the main doors.

Tips

  • Read the bag policy on the arena's website before you go.
  • Take the train on a Friday night rather than driving into the Victory Park garages.
  • Book the Sixth Floor Museum ahead for the morning after.
  • Check the weather. November in North Texas swings between warm days and sudden cold fronts.
  • Eat barbecue at lunch, not dinner; the best places often run out by the evening.
  • Ride the McKinney Avenue trolley between Uptown and the Arts District; it is free.
  • Arrive early on a Friday; the plaza and the entry queues fill quickly before a sold-out show.
  • Visit Dealey Plaza in the morning, before the museum queues build and the traffic picks up.
  • Bring a light jacket; the arena's air conditioning runs cold even when it is warm outside.
