Where to Stay in Accra: Osu, Labone, Cantonments and Labadi Beach

Accra spreads out horizontally without a single skyscraper downtown core, so choosing the right neighbourhood saves you time in traffic and shapes your evenings. Most visitors stay in the safe, green corridor stretching between Kotoka Airport in the north and the Atlantic coast at Osu and Labadi in the south.

1. Osu and Labone (Best for dining, nightlife, coffee shops and first-timers)

Sitting just inland from the coast east of Black Star Square, Osu (centred on lively Cantonments Road / Oxford Street) and its quieter, leafier neighbour Labone offer the highest concentration of restaurants, contemporary art galleries, independent boutiques and mid-range boutique hotels in Accra. Stay in Labone or the quieter residential lanes of Osu R.E. if you want to walk to artisan cafés and garden bistros without late-night street noise.

2. Cantonments (Best for quiet, leafy diplomatic streets and boutique guesthouses)

Directly north of Labone and Osu. Shaded by mature neem and mango trees, Cantonments is Accra's diplomatic quarter, home to embassies, the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre, stylish apartment-hotels and peaceful garden B&Bs. You are ten minutes by Uber from both the airport and the restaurants of Labone.

3. Labadi (La) Beach Coastline (Best for ocean breezes and resort swimming pools)

Ten minutes east of Osu along the Gulf of Guinea shore. 4. Airport Residential Area and Ridge (Best for business travellers and short stays)

Surrounding Kotoka International Airport and stretching south toward the National Museum in Ridge. Modern international chain hotels, rooftop pools, reliable courtesy airport shuttles and wide avenues make this the most convenient base if you have an early morning flight, a short stopover or a packed meeting schedule across town.
