Where to Eat in Yosemite: The 1927 Ahwahnee Dining Room, Curry Village Pizza Deck & Trail Picnics

From candlelit prime rib beneath 10-metre timber trusses at The Ahwahnee to hot pizza and pale ales on the Curry Village deck.

Almost all dining and grocery shopping inside Yosemite National Park is concentrated in three valley hubs linked by the free Green Shuttle: Yosemite Village (Stops #2 & #5), Curry Village (Stops #13 & #14) and Yosemite Valley Lodge (Stop #8), plus the historic Ahwahnee Hotel (Stop #3).

1. The 3 Best Sit-Down & Post-Hike Dining Experiences

  1. The 1927 Ahwahnee Dining Room (Shuttle Stop #3, Breakfast, Lunch & Buffet Dinner): the grandest dining room in the U.S. National Park System. Measuring 40 metres long with 10-metre-tall pine-log roof trusses, granite pillars and wrought-iron chandeliers looking out into the forest, it serves Prime Rib, roast duck and signature Warm Boysenberry Pie.
    • Insider Tip if Dinner Reservations Are Full: dinner requires a reservation (on travelyosemite.com or OpenTable, with a smart-casual evening dress code); however, breakfast and midday lunch accept walk-ins with casual hiking attire, letting you experience the same magnificent room for a fraction of the dinner cost.
  2. The Curry Village Pizza Deck & '1899 Bar' (Shuttle Stop #14, Casual Outdoor Favourite): right at the foot of the Mist Trail shuttle stop. Order a hot pizza (like the Half Dome or El Capitan) at the walk-up window and pair it with a local California craft IPA from adjacent Bar 1899 while watching sunset alpenglow on Royal Arches. Curry Village also has a cabin housing Peet's Coffee and the renovated Seven Tents Pavilion food court.
  3. The Mountain Room & Base Camp Eatery (At Yosemite Valley Lodge, Stop #8): The Mountain Room offers upscale steak, sustainable trout and a fireplace lounge facing Yosemite Falls, while next door Base Camp Eatery serves fast-casual Starbucks coffee, burgers, rotisserie chicken and salads from early morning until late evening.

2. Where to Buy Groceries & Pack Trail Lunches Inside the Valley

  • The Village Store (Shuttle Stop #5, Full-Size Supermarket): do not worry if you forgot groceries outside the park. The Yosemite Village Store is a large supermarket selling fresh fruit, deli meats, cheeses, bread, beer and wine, camping gear, ice and souvenirs.
  • Degnan's Kitchen (Right Beside the Village Store): operated in the tradition of pioneer baker Bridget Degnan (1884), serving fresh-made deli sandwiches, artisan pizzas, breakfast bagels and espresso to pack in your daypack.
