Getting to Niagara Falls from Toronto (GO Train & Megabus) & Buffalo Airport (BUF)
How to reach Niagara Falls from downtown Toronto on the GO Train or in 40 minutes from Buffalo Airport.
Sitting right on the Canada-US border at the western tip of Lake Ontario, Niagara Falls is served by direct trains and coaches from Toronto (130 km / 90 mins north) and sits closer to Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF, 40 km south in New York) than to Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ, 125 km north).
1. From Downtown Toronto to Niagara Falls: The GO Train & Coach Options
If you are travelling from Toronto without a car, you have two fast, inexpensive public options departing from Toronto Union Station:
- Option A, The Direct GO Transit Train (Lakeshore West Line): green-and-white double-decker GO Trains run directly from Toronto Union Station to Niagara Falls Station in 2 hours year-round (plus hourly GO Route 12 Bus + Train connections every hour from Burlington GO).
- The Weekend Pass & WEGO Bundle: if travelling on a Saturday, Sunday or statutory holiday, buy the GO One-Day Weekend Pass online at gotransit.com for unlimited day travel there and back, or choose the GO + WEGO Combo Package, which includes your round-trip train from Toronto plus 24 hours of unlimited WEGO Buses in Niagara Falls. On weekdays, tap your contactless card on the green PRESTO reader. Check current fares on the official GO Transit website.
- Option B, Megabus & FlixBus (Drops You Closer to the Falls at Table Rock): coaches run more than ten times daily from Toronto Union Station Bus Terminal in 1 hour 45 minutes, often stopping directly at Table Rock Welcome Centre right beside the Horseshoe Falls.
2. Arriving from Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) or Buffalo Airport (BUF)
- From Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ, 125 km / 75 to 90 Mins): take the Union Pearson Express train to Weston or Union Station to catch the GO Train or Bus, book a direct door-to-door Niagara Airbus shuttle from the terminal, or hire a car via Highway 427 South to the QEW Niagara.
- From Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF, 40 km / 35 to 45 Mins): for US travellers, flying into Buffalo (BUF) is much closer than Toronto. Hire a car (confirming cross-border permission), book a cross-border taxi or shuttle, or take NFTA Express Bus 204 to Niagara Falls, NY and walk 10 minutes across the Rainbow Bridge into Canada.
