2 to 3 Days in Zion: The Narrows, Scout Lookout / Angels Landing, East Zion & Bryce Canyon
A step-by-step 2-to-3-day plan conquering Scout Lookout and Angels Landing on Day 1, The Narrows on Day 2, and East Zion plus Bryce Canyon on Day 3.
This itinerary tackles Zion's two signature hikes, Scout Lookout / Angels Landing and The Narrows, on the first morning shuttles of Days 1 and 2 before heat and crowds build, while dedicating Day 3 to the East Side tunnel, Canyon Overlook Trail and Bryce Canyon National Park. Read our shuttle and e-bike guide first.
Day 1: Scout Lookout / Angels Landing, Emerald Pools & Watchman Sunset
- Morning: ride the early shuttle or e-bike to Stop #6 (The Grotto). Hike through Refrigerator Canyon and up the 21 switchbacks of Walter's Wiggles to Scout Lookout (no permit needed; with a lottery permit, continue along the chained spine of Angels Landing).
- Midday to Afternoon: follow the Kayenta Trail into Upper, Middle and Lower Emerald Pools, finishing on the lawn of Zion Lodge (Stop #5) for lunch and ice cream. Stop at Court of the Patriarchs (Stop #4) on your return.
- Sunset: hike the 5 km Watchman Trail (or walk the Pa'rus Trail bridges), followed by dinner at Oscar's Cafe or Bit & Spur.
Day 2: Hiking 'The Narrows' ('Wall Street') & Afternoon E-Bikes or Tubing
- Morning to Early Afternoon: collect rented canyoneering boots, neoprene socks and a walking stick at Zion Outfitter (pick them up the afternoon prior) and ride to Stop #9 (Temple of Sinawava). Walk the paved Riverside Walk and wade up the Virgin River into The Narrows past Mystery Falls, Orderville Canyon and the 300-metre overhanging walls of Wall Street.
- Afternoon to Evening: refuel at Zion Canyon Brew Pub, then go inner-tubing in Springdale, visit Grafton Ghost Town, or e-bike to Big Bend (Stop #8).
Day 3: The 1930 Tunnel, Canyon Overlook Trail & Bryce Canyon
- Morning: drive up the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway through the 1.8 km 1930 Rock Tunnel, hike the 1.6 km Canyon Overlook Trail, and pause at Checkerboard Mesa.
- Midday to Sunset: drive 90 minutes northeast via Red Canyon into Bryce Canyon National Park to hike the 4.6 km Navajo Loop and Queen's Garden Trail and view Inspiration Point (or detour to Kolob Canyons on your return to Las Vegas).
