Where to Stay in Brasília: Hotel Sectors (SHS/SHN), Lake Paranoá & Asa Sul
Compare the best areas to stay in Brasília: the central Setor Hoteleiro Sul and Norte, the lakeside resorts of Lago Paranoá (including Niemeyer's Brasília Palace), or Asa Sul.
Because Lúcio Costa's urban master plan separated residential, commercial, and hospitality zones into dedicated sectors, almost all hotels in Brasília are concentrated in two distinct locations: the Central Hotel Sectors (SHS and SHN) beside the TV Tower, and the Lakeside Tourism Sector (SHTN) along the quiet shore of Lake Paranoá.

1. Setor Hoteleiro Sul (SHS) & Setor Hoteleiro Norte (SHN): Best for Central Sightseeing
Flanking the western side of the central bus platform (Rodoviária) and the Brasília TV Tower, Setor Hoteleiro Sul (SHS) and Setor Hoteleiro Norte (SHN) put you at the exact geographic crossroads of the city.
- Why Stay Here: You are a 5-minute walk from the TV Tower observation deck and weekend craft market, a 5-minute Uber ride from the Cathedral and Esplanada dos Ministérios, and right next to two major shopping and dining complexes (Conjunto Nacional on the north side and Pátio Brasil on the south side, just above the 420-hectare Parque da Cidade).

2. Beira do Lago Paranoá (SHTN): Best for Resorts, Pools & Modernist Heritage
Seven kilometres east of the Rodoviária, where the northern shore of Lago Paranoá curves toward the presidential peninsula of Palácio da Alvorada, the Setor de Hotéis e Turismo Norte (SHTN) feels like a tranquil lakeside resort zone. Low-rise hotels sit amid palm lawns with swimming pools, kayak piers, and sunset views over the water.
- A Living Museum Piece (Brasília Palace Hotel): Designed by Oscar Niemeyer and inaugurated in 1958 as the official guesthouse for visiting heads of state while the city was still being built, this restored modernist landmark features an open ground-floor pilotis terrace, an oval swimming pool, and two original geometric murals by Athos Bulcão.

3. Asa Sul and Asa Norte: Best for Neighborhood Dining and Quiet Charm
If you prefer a residential neighbourhood where you can walk out in the evening under a canopy of mahogany and ipê trees to independent bistros, wine bars, and bakeries along the local commercial streets (especially CLS 201 to 405 Sul), look for licensed apartment stays or small guesthouses in Asa Sul.
