Best Time to Visit Dubai
Sunny winter beach months, desert evenings and how to plan around summer heat or Ramadan.
Dubai has a subtropical desert climate with virtually guaranteed blue skies year-round and only two real seasons: a warm, breezy coastal winter and an intensely hot, humid summer. For outdoor dining, desert safaris, Creek walks and beach days, the prime window is November to March, with late October and April offering warmer pool weather and better hotel rates.
Peak Winter (November to March) is when Dubai shines outdoors. Daytime temperatures sit between 24°C and 28°C with refreshing sea breezes and cool desert nights (around 14°C to 18°C), and the Gulf water is still warm enough for swimming. This is also the season for major outdoor attractions that close during the summer heat, including Dubai Miracle Garden and Global Village, as well as the Dubai Shopping Festival (December to January), the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature and the Dubai World Cup horse race in March. Because this is high season, book hotels and Downtown tickets well in advance.
Shoulder Season (April and October) brings daytime highs in the low-to-mid 30s°C. Early mornings and evenings after 17:00 are still pleasant for walking Al Fahidi and the Creek, and beachfront resorts in Dubai Marina and the Palm drop their rates noticeably compared with January.
Summer (May to September) is fiercely hot and humid along the coast, with July and August afternoon temperatures regularly exceeding 41°C to 45°C and high Gulf humidity. During these months outdoor walking at midday is impractical, and life shifts entirely indoors to air-conditioned mega-malls, indoor theme parks, museums and night-swimming beaches after dark, accompanied by heavy 5-star hotel discounts.
Visiting during Ramadan: the Islamic holy month of Ramadan moves roughly eleven days earlier each year on the Gregorian calendar. In Dubai today, hotel restaurants, mall food courts and attractions remain open throughout the day for non-fasting visitors, while evenings after the sunset Iftar cannon fire come alive with ornate night markets, cultural tents and late-night souk hours.
