Getting Around Fethiye: Dolmuş Minibuses, Contactless Cards and Water Taxis

Fethiye has one of the easiest and most frequent minibus and water-taxi networks on the Turkish coast. Even without a car, you can reach the Blue Lagoon, Kayaköy, Çalış Beach, Butterfly Valley's cliff viewpoints and Saklıkent Gorge on direct public lines using the contactless bank card already in your wallet.

Where is the Central Dolmuş Hub in Fethiye Town?

While intercity coaches arrive at the main Otogar on the eastern edge of town, all local white dolmuş minibuses start their routes in the very centre of Fethiye Town at the Central Minibus Stop behind the New Mosque (Yeni Cami) and CarrefourSA supermarket on Atatürk Caddesi (a flat 4-minute walk from the harbour promenade and Paspatur). Every minibus displays its destination clearly in the front window:

• Fethiye, Ovacık, Hisarönü, Ölüdeniz (Every 5 to 10 minutes in summer, ~20 to 25 mins): climbs the pine pass through Ovacık and Hisarönü and runs all the way down to the beach promenade at Belcekız and the Kumburnu Lagoon gate (and stops right outside the Babadağ Cable Car lower station in Ovacık).
• Fethiye, Hisarönü, Kayaköy (Every 20 to 30 minutes, ~20 mins): drops you right outside the stone ruins of Kayaköy Ghost Village.
• Fethiye, Çalış Beach (Every 5 to 10 minutes, ~12 mins): runs along the coastal boulevard to the southern bridge and northern hotels of Çalış.
• Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Faralya, Kabak (Hourly, ~45 to 55 mins): continues south from Ölüdeniz past Kıdrak Beach to the cliff viewpoints above Butterfly Valley and terminates at Kabak.
• Fethiye, Tlos, Saklıkent Gorge (Every 30 to 45 minutes, ~50 mins): departs from both the main Otogar and the Carrefour stop straight to Saklıkent.

How to Pay: Tap Any Contactless Visa / Mastercard

All Fethiye municipal buses and white dolmuş minibuses operate under the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality smartcard system: simply tap your contactless Visa or Mastercard debit/credit card (or Apple Pay / Google Pay) on the validator screen beside the driver when boarding. (For the Çalış Water Taxi boat departing from the Kordon promenade, you pay the skipper directly on board by card or lira cash).
