3 to 4 Days in Paros: Parikia, Naoussa Harbour, Kolymbithres, Lefkes and Antiparos

Three sun-drenched days linking Parikia and Naoussa's Venetian harbour with Kolymbithres, the Byzantine Road and Antiparos.

This itinerary is designed so that you can follow the entire route using only Paros's punctual KTEL buses, wooden water-taxis and the 7-minute Antiparos ferry. Read our KTEL bus and water-taxi guide before Day 1.

Day 1: Parikia's 326 AD Basilica & Marble Kastro + Sunset in Naoussa Venetian Harbour

  • Morning: start right behind the Parikia ferry windmill at the 326 AD Byzantine Church of Panagia Ekatontapyliani and the Paros Archaeological Museum.
  • Midday: stroll down car-free Old Market Street to the 1260 Frankish Castle, admiring the ancient 530 BC marble temple drums stacked into the house walls and the cliff view from blue-domed Agios Konstantinos, followed by a midday swim across Parikia Bay on the 8-minute boat to Marcello / Krios Beach.
  • Evening: take the 15-minute KTEL bus north to Naoussa; wander its whitewashed bougainvillea alleys, wine-taste at 1910 Moraitis Winery, walk out along the seawall to the half-sunken 15th-century Venetian Castle at sunset, and dine on sun-dried grilled gouna mackerel and revithada around the Old Fishing Harbour.

Day 2: Naoussa Bay by Boat, Kolymbithres Granite Rocks, Paros Park & Santa Maria

  • Morning: board the wooden water-taxi boat from Naoussa port pier for the 10-minute crossing to Kolymbithres Beach.
  • Midday: walk or hop the boat 5 minutes north to the sheltered emerald cove of Monastiri Beach and hike the 40-minute coastal granite-arch trail of Paros Park to the 1887 Cape Korakas Lighthouse (or spend the afternoon swimming on the golden sand and cedar dunes of Santa Maria and Lageri on the eastern side of the bay).

Day 3: Lefkes & The 1000 AD Marble Byzantine Road + Afternoon in Antiparos.

  • Morning: head inland (stopping briefly at the ancient underground Parian Marble Quarries at Marathi) to the mountain village of Lefkes; visit the marble Cathedral of Agia Triada, then walk the gentle 50-minute downhill 1000 AD marble-paved Byzantine Road to Prodromos and Marpissa for an early lunch at Tsitsanis (and a swim at Piso Livadi or Golden Beach).
  • Afternoon: head to Pounda Port on the west coast and hop the 7-minute ferry across the strait to Antiparos Island, visiting the 45-million-year-old Cave of Antiparos, swimming at Psaralyki or Faneromeni, and strolling the bougainvillea main street and 1440 Venetian Kastro of Antiparos Chora before taking a late-night ferry back to Paros.
