Getting Around Whistler: The Free Village Shuttle (#4/#5), BC Transit & Day Lots 1 to 5

Mastering Whistler's free Village Shuttle buses (#4 and #5), local BC Transit passes and convenient parking in municipal Day Lots 1 to 5.

Once you arrive in Whistler, getting between the main village, the Upper Village (Blackcomb base), the lakes, Creekside and Function Junction is effortless, thanks to a combination of free Village Shuttles and frequent local BC Transit buses.

1. The Free Village Shuttles (Routes #4 & #5 + Summer 'Park Rider' Beach Buses)

Operated by BC Transit and the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW), these village shuttle routes are completely free to board:

  • Free Route #4 (Marketplace Shuttle) & Free Route #5 (Upper Village / Benchlands Shuttle, Runs Year-Round): loop every 10 to 30 minutes from the Gondola Transit Exchange (right beside the Whistler Village Gondola) past the Day Lots (1 to 5), Village North (Marketplace / Olympic Plaza), and across Fitzsimmons Creek to the Upper Village (Blackcomb Gondola, Fairmont Chateau, Four Seasons & Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre).
  • Free Summer 'Lost Lake (#8) & Rainbow Park (#9) Beach Shuttles' (Mid-June to Labour Day): in summer, free shuttles run every 15 to 30 minutes from the Gondola Transit Exchange directly to the beaches of Lost Lake and Rainbow Park (Alta Lake).

2. Local Buses to Creekside, Function Junction & Scandinave Spa (Single Fare or DayPass)

For routes outside the immediate village core, such as Route #10 (Valley Express to Creekside & Function Junction / Train Wreck) and Route #20 / #30 (North to Scandinave Spa, Green Lake & Cheakamus Crossing), you can pay a low single fare or buy an unlimited all-day DayPass via the free Umo Mobility app or cash on board (check current fares on the official BC Transit site; on summer weekends from June to September, municipal transit is often free).

3. Driving a Car? Where to Park in 'Day Lots 1 to 5'

Village hotels charge a steep nightly rate for underground parking. Right along Blackcomb Way between Whistler Village and the Upper Village sit five municipal car parks: Day Lots 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Day Lots 4 and 5 offer free daytime parking year-round, while closer Day Lots 1, 2 and 3 charge an hourly or daily fee and offer multi-day overnight parking permits via the PayByPhone app.
