Overview

Live Nation has announced that U2 will play two outdoor stadium concerts in Milano on Monday 5 July and Tuesday 6 July 2027. The shows at San Siro Stadium form the conclusion of the European leg of their Carnaval De Luz presents: The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour. These concerts mark the band's return to major stadium venues following their residency at Sphere in Las Vegas and their earlier Joshua Tree Tour, which wrapped up in Mumbai in December 2019. The tour supports their album Carnaval De Luz, with the title single written alongside Brian Eno and accompanied by a video filmed in California by Anton Corbijn.

The Milano performances reunite Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. with a venue that holds key moments in their live performance history. San Siro hosted two Vertigo Tour dates in July 2005, which were filmed for the Vertigo: Live from Milan release, as well as the 2009 U2 360 Tour featuring the massive stage structure known as The Claw. Having last performed in the city indoors at Assago in 2018, these 2027 dates bring the Irish group back under the open sky at the Meazza. London band Wolf Alice will join them as the official support act for both Milano evenings and across all European dates.

Summer Concert Break in Milano

Attending a major stadium concert in July fits naturally into a wider stay in Lombardy. Travellers heading to the city for the show can easily spend a couple of days exploring central neighbourhoods like Brera or enjoying evening drinks along the canal banks. Sampling traditional local dishes, such as authentic Milanese food including saffron risotto and cotoletta, adds a rewarding cultural aspect to a concert trip. The European tour itinerary also includes stops in Stockholm, Paris, Lisbon, Amsterdam, London and Berlin before reaching its final mainland destination in Italy.

Tickets & Getting There

Tickets for both Milano dates will be distributed through official ticketing partners Ticketmaster and TicketOne, alongside Live Nation and U2.com. Presales for fan club members and registered users precede the general public sale. Prospective buyers should check the official ticketing page for current availability and queue procedures, as prices and specific category details are announced directly by the event organisers at the start of sales. Fans travelling from other cities in Italy can also look at dedicated coach transport services organized by Eventi in Bus, which offer direct travel to the venue.

Getting around the city during concert days is simple using the municipal transit network. As outlined in our guide to Milan Public Transport, five metro lines, trams and buses serve every district, and passengers can pay directly at metro turnstiles using a contactless bank card. Visitors arriving from abroad can refer to our summary of Milan Airport Transfers to choose between train services from Malpensa to Cadorna or Centrale, metro line M4 from Linate to San Babila, or coaches from Bergamo Orio al Serio.

When selecting accommodation, booking a hotel located near a metro line provides quick access across the city. Districts such as Isola and Porta Nuova offer strong rail and underground links while keeping you close to contemporary dining spots.

Tips

  • Book your tickets and stay early: Demand for stadium dates in Milano is high, so secure hotel rooms near a metro station as soon as your concert entry is confirmed.
  • Use contactless public transit: Skip ticket counter queues on concert night by tapping a contactless bank card at metro turnstiles when travelling to and from San Siro Stadium.
  • Watch for official presale windows: Registered fan club members on U2.com and Ticketmaster account holders receive access to early ticket allocations ahead of general sales, so check the official ticketing page for criteria.
  • Consider direct coach options: Dedicated Eventi in Bus travel routes provide organised coach connections to the stadium from numerous Italian towns and cities.
