Getting to Adana: Çukurova International Airport (COV), Havamaş Coaches and Trains
Using the 24/7 Havamaş coaches from the new Çukurova International Airport (COV) straight into central Adana.
In August 2024, all commercial domestic and international passenger flights serving Adana and Mersin transferred from the old inner-city Şakirpaşa airfield to the brand-new, high-capacity Çukurova International Airport (COV, Çukurova Uluslararası Havalimanı), located 35 kilometres west of central Adana near Tarsus/Yenice. Getting from baggage claim at COV into downtown Adana is fast, modern and operates 24 hours a day.
1. From Çukurova International Airport (COV) to Central Adana (35 to 45 Minutes)
- Havamaş Official Airport Shuttle Coaches (24/7 Timed to Flights): walk out of the Domestic or International arrivals sliding doors to the dedicated coach bays where luxury white Havamaş coaches wait around the clock (departing every 30 minutes or immediately after flights land; pay by tapping a contactless Visa/Mastercard or cash on board). The Adana City Route runs straight east along the highway and D400 boulevard, stopping at:
- Adana Intercity Bus Terminal (Merkez Otogar),
- Şakirpaşa / Historic Train Station (Gar) & Ziyapaşa / Atatürk Parkı (get off here for all central Seyhan hotels, Ziyapaşa and Tepebağ),
- and terminating on the riverbank at Yüreğir (Optimum Mall / Sheraton & Hilton SA right opposite Sabancı Mosque).
- Airport Taxis & Rental Cars: official metered airport taxis and all major international car-rental desks operate 24/7 inside the COV terminal arrivals hall.
2. Arriving by Train at Historic 1912 Adana Station (Right in the City Centre)
Opened in 1912 with three monumental pointed-arch stone portals at the northern end of Ziyapaşa Bulvarı, Adana Train Station (Adana Garı) sits right in the middle of the modern café and hotel district:
- Mersin, Tarsus, Adana Regional Trains: depart every 30 to 45 minutes from morning until night, reaching Tarsus in 28 minutes and Mersin harbour in 55 minutes.
- Fırat Express, Toros Express & Erciyes Express: daily scenic mainline trains connecting Adana north through the Varda Viaduct (Hacıkırı) and Belemedik Valley to Niğde, Kayseri and Konya, and east to İskenderun and Elazığ.
