Best Time to Visit Ibiza
June and September for warm sea and space, winter for a slower island.
Short answer: June and September. The sea is warm enough to swim for hours, the clubs are open, and the coves and roads are calmer than in July and August. For walking, villages and Dalt Vila without the party, come in spring or late autumn.
Spring (March to May)
Days warm up through April and May, with green fields and wildflowers, and the sea still feels bracing until late May. Many hotels and restaurants in the resorts reopen around Easter. The club season starts in late April: in 2026 Pacha, Hï, Ushuaïa and DC10 held their opening parties around the International Music Summit weekend, with Amnesia following in May. Openings are less crowded than peak summer. Spring is the time for hiking and the north coast.
Summer (June to August)
Hot, dry and sunny, with humid nights in July and August, when the island is at its fullest. Small coves fill by late morning, car parks at popular beaches close once they are full, and Cala Salada runs an access control from May to mid-October. Book accommodation, cars and the club nights that matter well ahead. June has the long evenings without the August crush; the sea warms through the summer and is at its warmest at the end of it. Pack for the heat with our what to wear guide.
Autumn (September to November)
September is our favourite month: the sea is at its warmest, the light softens and families have gone home. Closing parties run from late September into mid-October, with the busiest weekend in early October. After that the island empties fast. October can still bring beach days, but autumn storms are possible, and by November most of the clubs, beach bars and resort hotels have shut.
Winter (December to February)
Mild compared with northern Europe, with sunny days fit for walking, but cool evenings and rain at times. Most clubs, many beach restaurants and much of Sant Antoni and Playa d'en Bossa close for the season, and flight options shrink. Ibiza Town and Santa Eulària stay lived in, and Dalt Vila is at its quietest. Late January and February bring almond blossom to the valleys, especially around Santa Agnès. The Las Dalias Saturday market runs all year, and the tourist tax is lower outside the May to October season. For a winter stay, base yourself in town (see where to stay).
