Getting to Corfu: Kapodistrias Airport (CFU), Igoumenitsa Ferries and Albania Boats

Reaching Corfu Old Town in ten minutes from the runway on Blue Bus #15 or arriving by ferry from Italy, mainland Greece or Albania.

Because Corfu sits at the northern maritime gateway of Greece, it is connected by direct flights from nearly every European airport between April and November, year-round 50-minute flights from Athens, overnight car ferries from Italy, and 30-to-90-minute boats from mainland Greece and Albania.

1. From Corfu Airport (CFU) to Corfu Old Town & Ferry Port (Only 2.5 km / 10 Minutes)

Tickets cost . standard fare (tap a contactless Visa/Mastercard on the machine or pay the driver).
  • Walking or Taking a Taxi: if you only have a backpack or small cabin roller, you can actually walk from the airport terminal along the flat Garitsa Bay seaside promenade into the Old Town in 25 to 30 minutes. Official metered taxis outside arrivals reach Old Town hotels in 7 minutes .

2. Arriving by Ferry (From Igoumenitsa, Italy & Saranda in Albania)

  • From Mainland Greece (Igoumenitsa Port, 60 to 90 Minutes): ferries operated by Kerkyra Lines and Kerkyra Seaways depart every 45 to 60 minutes from Igoumenitsa (connected by direct highway coaches from Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina/Meteora and Preveza) to Corfu New Port (and a 55-minute southern ferry also links Igoumenitsa to Lefkimmi Port in southern Corfu).
  • From Saranda, Albania (30 Minutes by Hydrofoil): high-speed catamarans (Finikas Lines / Ionian Seaways) cross the two-mile strait from Corfu Port to Saranda in southern Albania (gateway to UNESCO-listed Butrint and Gjirokastër) in just 30 minutes.
  • Direct Ferries from Italy: overnight/daytime ferries run from Bari, Brindisi, Ancona and Venice directly into Corfu.
