3 Days in Auckland: Waterfront & Volcanoes, Waiheke Island, Plus Piha & Waitakere Ranges

A balanced 3-day Auckland itinerary: spend Day 1 exploring the waterfront, Auckland War Memorial Museum, and Maungawhau (Mt Eden), Day 2 on Rangitoto and Waiheke Island, and Day 3 on the wild West Coast beaches of Piha and Muriwai.

Three full days in Auckland give you the ideal rhythm to experience the city's three defining landscapes: the urban harbourfront and sacred volcanic cones of the isthmus on Day 1, the islands and vineyards of the Hauraki Gulf on Day 2, and the rainforest waterfalls and black-sand Tasman Sea surf beaches of the West Coast on Day 3.
