Universal Beijing Resort: Kung Fu Panda, Transformers and Metro Access
How to reach Universal Beijing Resort by metro and prioritise its Beijing-exclusive Kung Fu Panda and Transformers lands.
In Tongzhou District at the eastern edge of the capital, Universal Beijing Resort (Beijing Huanqiu Dujiaqu) is the largest Universal theme park in the world by footprint and one of the easiest major theme parks in Asia to reach by public transit. Two underground lines, the scenic southern cross-city Subway Line 7 and the Line 1 / Batong Line, terminate directly at Universal Resort Station, where six curved glass roof canopies open straight onto the pedestrian boulevard of Universal CityWalk Beijing without requiring a shuttle bus.
Passport admission and app preparation
Like historic sights in the city centre, Universal Beijing Resort uses strict real-name passport ticketing and facial-recognition entry. Download the official Universal Beijing Resort app (which switches seamlessly into English) before your visit to link your ticket, check live queue wait times and reserve virtual show slots. You MUST bring your physical passport to scan at the park turnstiles, if your passport scans successfully, the turnstile prints a small paper photo slip used for Express Pass lanes and locker verification inside.
Three Beijing-exclusive and flagship lands to ride first
Because roughly two-thirds of the park's attractions are built indoors or beneath heated canopies to handle Beijing's crisp winters and hot summers, it is an all-season park. Head clockwise or anticlockwise at rope-drop toward these three priority zones:
- Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness (exclusive to Beijing): the world's first entirely indoor theme-park land dedicated to Po and the Jade Palace, glowing with hundreds of peach blossoms and festival lanterns unaffected by outdoor weather. Ride the dark boat journey Kung Fu Panda Journey of the Dragon Warrior and dine on roast duck noodles at Mr Ping's Noodle House.
- Transformers Metrobase (first full Transformers land globally): anchored by Decepticoaster, the resort's fastest outdoor launch coaster, alongside the 3D dark ride Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark.
- Jurassic World Isla Nublar & The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: do not miss Jurassic World Adventure (a Beijing-specific dark ride inside an indoor mountain where a life-sized animatronic Indominus rex chases your All-Terrain Luxury Autonomous System vehicle), followed by Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey inside Hogwarts Castle and the immersive live dragon theatre spectacle Untamed (How to Train Your Dragon).
